Transportation: Sudbury's Airport, YSB
Sudbury International Airport, or "YSB" (its international aeronautical designation) is a major air
hub for northern Ontario.
The airport is 22 km from downtown Sudbury, because the first bit of flat
ground (flat enough for a long runway for jets) is that far away. The drive
from the airport, just past Garson and Falconbridge) takes 25 minutes to get
into downtown.
From the airport, the best way into town is either by taxi (average cost $29 to $45),
shuttle, or by rent-a-car
(varies). The Sudbury Airport Shuttle bus
will drop you off pretty much wherever you prefer in the City. If you need to visit any of the suburbs or mines,
you should consider a rental car. While the downtown area is quite compact, everything outside is a distance away.
Due to a new city bylaw effective September 1/03, all shuttle bus
pick-ups from the airport must be pre-booked. Call
