FoundLocally is seeking Media Studies curriculum ideas
We are concerned about the quality o fonline resources, and the number of media and web sites that have a commercial bias
("buy this product") --very typical in the "fashion & beauty" and "entertainment / paparazzi" genre--
or have incomplete, biased or inaccurate information that leads to poor decisions.
We will publish any teacher ideas for using internet resources for various student projects in areas of:
- Media Studies (including use of search engines, like Google)
- Social Studies
- Geography (urban and surrounding areas)
- History & Community Development
- CommunityComparitive studies (yours and another, elsewhere in Canada)
- Protecting the Environment
- Marketing & Small Business studies
- Arts, Entertainment & media
- Any other great ideas!
We are looking for curriculum modules that other teachers, in other schools and school boards across the country
can integrate into their teaching materials, that help teachers use quality Canadian internet
resources including FoundLocally.com, and help
students develop criteria for and help them evaluate and make judgements about quality what constitutes quality online resources.
